Bosch Lambda Sensor
The Lambda Sensor (O₂ sensor) used in SLM (Selective Laser Melting) machines is a specialized component designed for oxygen measurement in the build chamber during the additive manufacturing process. In SLM systems, maintaining an inert atmosphere is critical to ensure high-quality metal prints, and the Lambda sensor plays a vital role in monitoring and controlling the oxygen levels within the chamber.
By continuously measuring the oxygen concentration, the sensor helps ensure that the environment remains at the optimal level of inert gas, typically argon or nitrogen, required for the laser melting process. This allows for precise control of the atmosphere, preventing oxidation or contamination of the metal powder, which could affect the quality of the printed part.
The Lambda sensor provides real-time data to the machine's control system, allowing for adjustments to be made to maintain a consistent, controlled environment throughout the build process. This ensures better part quality, reduced porosity, and improved surface finish in the final product.
Designed for high-temperature and high-precision applications, the sensor is built to withstand the harsh conditions inside the SLM machine's processing chamber. It offers reliable performance even in the demanding conditions of metal 3D printing, contributing to process stability and repeatability.
